Bishop Frome Project
The project extends the services of the Glevum Farm Trust to a wider range
of service users. It helps to maintain the enthusiasm of staff and service
users and provide a wider range of work options to all those who work with us.
The aim of the project is to offer six day care places to adults with learning
disabilities who already have some level of basic motivation and attention
span. The range of work available proves an opportunity for confidence
building and improved self image for people with a limited experience of
success.
With our experience we are able to construct a care package based upon
farm work that can offer positive results for people with a wide range of
abilities. A mixed farming unit provides all kinds of benefits to our service
users and can cope with a range of special needs at a very low unit cost. This
package can include all aspects from Training Education and Employment to
Therapy and Leisure Activities.
All of which is based upon a self sustaining 22 acre holding at Bishops Frome.
The land includes field scale crops, vegetable production, protected cropping,
grazing for cattle and sheep, amenity gardens, and even a stream and pond
designed to create a diverse habitat for wild life.
